The District Commissioner (DC Office) in Barpeta, Assam, seeks applications for the contractual position of GIS Assistant on contractual basis.

Essential Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Geo-informatics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields with a Certificate/Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing or Geo-informatics.Or
M.Tech./M.Sc. in GIS & Remote Sensing/Geo-informatics.Or
MCA/M.A./M.Sc. in Geography, Geology, Mathematics, Environmental Science, with Geo-informatics as a subject, or a Certificate/Diploma in GIS/Remote Sensing or Geo-informatics.

Desirable Qualification:

Desired skills and qualifications include:

Proficiency in GIS software like ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper, or other industry-standard applications.
Familiarity with spatial data formats (e.g., Shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML) and coordinate systems.
Knowledge of geospatial analysis, image processing, drone survey data collection, HRSI for land mapping, and modern survey techniques (RTK GNSS Rovers, DGPS, ETS, etc.).
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Capability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently.
Preferred but not mandatory: Prior experience in a GIS-related role or internship.

Experience:

Preference for candidates with a minimum of 10 years of work experience.
Preference for candidates who are RCCC trained and possess the required educational qualifications along with proficiency in GIS.

Salary: Rs. 25000/- per month

Age: Above 21 years and not exceeding 45 years as of January 1, 2023.

Selection Procedure:

There will be a walk-in-interview on January 9, 2024, starting from 10 AM at the Conference Hall, District Commissioner’s Office in Barpeta.
